Most first-year club volleyball programs may be quick to use the adage, “Ready or not … here we come” as they finally start their inaugural season. But when it comes to the players, coaches, parents, and leaders of Club 940 Volleyball, there’s no doubt we are ready for the road that lies ahead.
Here … We … Come!
Club 940 owner, Jennifer Homeyer, is excited to officially signal the start of the 2019 campaign, which is now less than 30 hours away. Regular-season practices begin tomorrow, December 2 at Lake Dallas High School, and all of our teams will be preparing for their first tournament Dec. 29-30. The plan is to get at least seven practices in, not including Saturday clinics for those girls who want or need additional training before the Dec. 29-30 tournaments. Pay attention to our Facebook page and website for more specifics on practice, clinic, and tournament schedules for all age groups as we move forward.
“This is what we’ve been waiting for; we have been preparing since July, and I can’t wait to see what our girls do,” Jennifer said. “The girls have spent some time together on and off the court prior to our first practice this Sunday. We are ready to finally begin! Everything we’ve been building up for is finally here.”
Tour of Texas Qualifier (Dec. 29-30 in Dallas)
A Tour of Texas tournament qualifier will be held Dec. 29-30 at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas. Club 940 will be represented by our 15U’s, 16U’s, 17U’s, and 18U’s.
The TOT is an elite tournament where teams can qualify and compete in three cities (Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio) in an effort to be crowned the best in Texas. According to the tournament website, the teams that qualify for the Tour of Texas and are required to participate in the next three Tour Stops. The 24 teams that compete in the Tour consist of the top 12 teams from the previous year’s Tour Finals and the top 12 teams from the current year’s Tour Qualifier.
Winterfest (Dec. 29-30 in Dallas)
While the 15U-18U teams will be at the TOT, our 12U’s, 13U’s, and 14U’s will be proudly representing 940 at the Winterfest Tournament. This is a regional tournament that is hosted by Texas Assault on Dec. 29-30. Due to the number of teams that generally sign up for this tournament, it is held at three different locations, Texas Assault, VIP, and Winning Edge Volleyball. It is a two-day tournament with pool play and a playoff. Each team is guaranteed 10 sets, which provides teams a great opportunity to start settling in as a team and iron out line-ups as the season is beginning.
Along with the Tour of Texas and Winterfest, the other big tournament Club 940 has signed up for is the MLK Tournament on Jan. 12-13. More information will be provided on that at a later date.
